Ralleio Rebetiko project served as the case study forming the basis of the pedagogical component of the hybrid “Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage”, which was attended by 31 primary and secondary school teachers from across Greece.
Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO. The program included three online afternoon sessions on 19, 20, and 21 November 2024, and a two-day in-person workshop held at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture over the weekend of 23 and 24 November 2024.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce educators to and familiarize them with the innovative approach of teaching with and about intangible cultural heritage in formal education. This methodology is featured in the joint UNESCO–European Union pilot program and the accompanying publication: “Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage: A Resource Kit for Teachers”.
The training was delivered by a team of Greek ICH facilitators and expert trainers collaborating with the UNESCO Living Heritage Entity, including Ralleio English language teacher, Katerina Christodoulou.
